This can be grown into a large tree or more commonly grown into a hedge. Purple Beech is a distinctive, low maintenance hedging species.  Always a popular choice, it is also known as Copper Beech, due to the coppery brown shade of its leaves during spring.  Purple Beech foliage transforms into a deep purple in the summer then to brown throughout winter,  this a striking and interesting plant and is suitable for most soil types. Very hardy.
